5 Signs of a Transmission Slipping

5 Things that may signal you have a Transmission Problem.

5 signs that a transmission may be slipping

1. Slipping transmission If you experience automatic slipping of the transmission, it may feel like you're riding in a certain gear and then it shifts for no obvious reason. Engine noise can change in pitch or begin to sound like whining.

Your vehicle may also appear to be struggling, being suddenly underpowered, or not speeding up as it should.

2. Rough changes you may feel your vehicle refuses to alter gears as usual, or the gear changes are not very smooth. Sometimes when the car shifts gears, you may feel or hear a noticeable "clunk" or "thud." You may also notice that the car has hardly reached speed.

3. Delayed commitment if this symptom occurs, you will notice a delay before the car actually starts driving and moves forward.

When you move from "P" to "D," there may be a long pause in which the car rotates the engine as you give it gas, but it doesn't move as it should.

4. Transmissions of fluid leakage are generally sealed units that should never leak fluid. If you have noticed leak places on the driveway or garage floor, place cardboard in the front and middle under your vehicle to determine if active leaks are present.

If your transmission is leaking-the fluid is bright red, but it may be other colors, or it may be black or dark red if it is burnt. Before refilling any transmission fluid; factory specifications should be followed as overfilling may create a greater transmission problem.

5. Transmission warning light A warning light alone, such as the "check engine" light, does not typically mean you have a transmission problem, but if any of the above symptoms occur in conjunction with an illuminated warning, a professional will diagnose it.

Typically, a warning light means that the computer generates an error code that can be checked at a transmission shop like Eagle Transmission Repair Shop Serving Dallas / CelinaArea

Transmission fluid is the heart and soul of every vehicle. Not only does is remove heat from the internal elements of your transmission, but it also sets in motion gear changes through hydraulic pressure.

Transmission fluid is a slippery liquid that acts as a lubricant for all the moving parts inside of your transmission. In an automatic transmission, this fluid also works as a coolant and an adherent fluid that transmits power from the engine to the transmission.

A CVT is an automatic transmission system which offers a smoother driving experience by optimizing the process of change. The transition between gears becomes almost smooth by the design of the CVT, and the effect of "shift-shock" is greatly lessened. CVTs also provide better fuel economy and power consumption, as it allows the engine to operate at optimum power, regardless of how fast the vehicle travels. The word "continuously variable" implies that the CVT allows for a constant change within the engine, instead of the actual gear "stages," so that there is no apparent shift between gears. Different types of CVTs Many types of continuously variable transmissions are available, many of which are now available from major automakers. Pulley-Based The most common CVT uses a complex pulley system to provide smooth gear changes instead of gears. If you’re having issues with your cvt give us a call we offer a free initial check out. 5 Tips that will help you save money at a transmission shop! 1. Today's technology is great! When it comes to finding a good transmission shop, it's right at your fingertips. Checking the reviews of a shop on the internet is the first step to saving you money. This may sound silly but, good shops work hard for good reviews. 2. Resist the impulse to call a transmission shop and ask for a "worst case scenario", or a "ball park". Worst case is buying something you don't need. There are a lot of shops that will just throw a number out, all too quickly, hoping to land the job. 3. Keep in mind that a transmission has 300-400 moving parts. When someone says they can rebuild your transmission for a certain dollar figure, how many of those parts are they going to replace? Everyone is convinced that rebuilding a transmission means you take out ALL the old parts and put new ones back in their place. That's simply not the case. 4. It’s easy to make up prices over the phone, but a professional shop will always ask you to bring the vehicle in for a proper diagnosis. Doesn't it make more sense to base your decision on a thorough diagnosis and accurate pricing information, rather than some sort of random guess work by someone that hasn't even looked at your vehicle? 5. Honest shops make sure they only sell what is needed and do a good job for you. An honest shop will educate the customer, rather than trying to play them for a sucker. If you want to get the best price, seek out a professional transmission shop like Eagle Transmission. Serving Dallas Area and Ardmore Ok Eagle Transmission Shop
