Fluid Service

Your Transmission Fluid is like the life blood of your vehicles transmission!

Automatic transmissions create an extreme internal heat through friction. Much of this heat is developed in your vehicles torque converter. Some other sources of friction is created when the clutch packs are engage, and also typical friction created by the gears and bearings carrying their loads.

There are many small particles like metal shavings that get caught or build up in the fluid and as this goes through cogs and gears, it gets stuck and wears down the different parts. This will result in a need to rebuild or to replace the worn parts without regular maintenance. The new fluid enhances the holding power between the clutches so that it does not slip and reduces the friction heat created.

In normal driving conditions your fluid temperatures average around 175 degrees, which is your normal operating temperature at which most  fluids are designed to operate. If your  fluid temperatures could maintain at 175 degrees, the transmission fluid may last up to 30,000 miles to 60,000.

The life of the fluid begins to plummet as the temperature rises. The problem is even your vehicle normal driving conditions can push the ATF fluid temperatures beyond safe limits. Heavy towing, extreme cold or hot temperatures and even extended time sitting in traffic can quickly cause fluid deterioration. Once this happens, the transmission trouble begins.
